Bailey winter weather is a mixed bag. Sometimes we have lots of snow, sometimes not so much. Sometimes it’s cccccold. And some days it’s 50 degrees. If we don’t have enough snow right here for snow shoeing, cross country skiing or sledding, you can drive 20 – 30 minutes and find a place that has more snow (and see some great scenery along the way)! If you want to take in a day of downhill skiing, Breckenridge is approximately 60 miles away (and a beautiful 60 miles). Some years, you can find open hiking trails here almost all winter. It’s all up to Mother Nature.
We love it because we never know for sure what’s next. It’s almost always sunny and no matter what, there are great scenic drives even if you don’t want to work up a sweat with the winter sports! Some of our visitors come for the outdoor activities, and others like to take a drive, visit the Aspen Peak Wine Cellar, have a meal, and then sit by the fireplace. Some come for a quiet retreat, to work on a writing project, or photograph the mountain peaks, or read some good books. Whatever your preferences are, it’s always good for the soul to have a mountain get-a-way!
